Q: Who the HECK is DJ Nighttrain? A: Well, here’s a brief bio! I was born in Houston, Texas and lived there most of my life. DJ Nighttrain is a remixer, producer, MC and DJ. I touched my 1st one’s and two’s in 1988 after after arriving in Lakenheath, England. My roommate was the now famous DJ Kevy Kev from the East. Quickly I learned how to mix, dubbed DJ E-Love and soon there after I began DJ’ing the NCO club and local UK hot spots. I have had the pleasure of twisting the hits in Texas, Illinois before I landed in California. I put the ones and two away sometime in the 90′s to travel and MC with celebrities from the hit TV Show “In Living Color,” and others. I have worked with radio stations like Cool 101, brief stint with 102.5 until I picked back producing and mixing music for athletes and others. I abandoned the vinyl and moved to 100% digital music and the Dj Nighttrain was born. Q: Can you DJ at our shindig?? A: Sure, why not. Drop a line to dj.nighttrain@me.com and see if I’m around.I think I have the “chicken dance” somewhere around here!!!
Q: What the HECK is a NIGHTTRAIN anyway? A:“Night Train” is a twelve bar blues instrumental standard first recorded by Jimmy Forrest in 1951. “Night Train” has a long and complicated history. The piece’s opening riff was first recorded in 1940 by a small group led by Duke Ellington sideman Johnny Hodges under the title “That’s the Blues, Old Man”.
